Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

TextSnap Pro is a Chrome browser extension developed independently. This policy explains how the extension handles data on your device.

2. What data the extension stores

When you use TextSnap Pro to capture text, the extension saves a snippet record locally on your device using chrome.storage.local. Each record contains:

• The captured text
• The URL and page title of the source page
• The domain name of the source page
• The capture type (text selection, video OCR, or screenshot OCR)
• A timestamp

This data lives exclusively in your browser's local storage. It is never uploaded, synchronised to a cloud service, or transmitted in any form.

3. What data the extension does NOT collect

• No account or registration is required
• No analytics or usage telemetry
• No crash reports sent externally
• No browsing history beyond what you explicitly capture
• No personal identifiers (name, email, IP address, device ID)
• No advertising identifiers

4. On-device OCR — no image upload

The video-frame and screenshot OCR features run entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly (Tesseract.js). Images are processed locally and immediately discarded after text is extracted. No image data is ever sent to an external server.

5. Third-party sharing

TextSnap Pro does not share, sell, rent, or trade any data with any third party. There are no third-party SDKs, ad networks, or analytics services embedded in the extension.

6. Browser permissions used

The extension requests the following Chrome permissions. Each is used solely for the stated purpose:

Permission	Why it is needed
sidePanel	Display the snippet collection sidebar inside the browser window
storage	Save snippets to local device storage so they persist across browser sessions
activeTab	Read the URL and title of the current tab when a capture is initiated
scripting	Inject the screenshot selection overlay into the active tab at the user's request
contextMenus	Add an "Extract to Sidebar" option to the browser right-click menu
offscreen	Run the OCR engine in a hidden background page without blocking the browser UI
host_permissions (<all_urls>)	Allow the floating Extract button and video capture overlay to appear on any page the user visits

7. Your control over stored data

You have full control over all data stored by the extension:

• Delete a single snippet — click the Delete button on any card
• Clear all snippets — click Clear All in the sidebar header
• Uninstall — removing the extension from Chrome permanently deletes all locally stored data

8. Children's privacy

TextSnap Pro is a general-purpose productivity tool not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone under the age of 13.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a material way, the effective date at the top of this page will be updated. Continued use of the extension after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
